He earned his medical degree from the University of Dundee in Scotland and further honed his skills through a rigorous four-year residency at the University of Ottawa, specializing in Obstetrics & Gynecology. Dr. Douglas brings over 40 years of extensive experience in women’s healthcare, marked by a distinguished career spanning various roles. A Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, he expanded his expertise by obtaining ARDMS certification in ultrasound. Driven by a passion for teaching and mentorship, he has contributed significantly to the medical community, serving as a resident, consultant, educator, mentor, and administrator.
In 2014, Dr. Douglas ventured to Qatar, where he played a pivotal role as the departmental vice chair in the inauguration of SIDRA, a prestigious 7-star hospital with a focus on women and children’s health in Doha. His leadership extended to national levels as he served as the President of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada in 2012, and currently, he chairs their Obstetrical Guideline committee.
Upon returning to Canada, Dr. Douglas dedicated his expertise to the Sunshine Coast in B.C., serving as the head Ob/Gyn Generalist in women’s health. A devoted educator, he holds a faculty position with the Department of Ob/Gyn at UBC, contributing to the development of medical students and future specialists. His commitment to advancing healthcare is further evident in his role on the Regional Executive Committee.
