What the Procedure Does
Hymenoplasty is a simple procedure that will repair a torn hymen or build a hymen where one does not exist. The hymen is a thin membrane of tissue that surrounds the vaginal opening. The hymen can easily break in a variety of non-sexual situations, such as during routine pap smear procedures, horseback riding, gymnastics, or other strenuous activities. Hymenoplasty allows women to restore their hymen for personal, religious, or cultural reasons.

About Hymenoplasty

Hymenoplasty, also known as hymen restoration, reconstruction, or repair, is a procedure that repairs a torn or ruptured hymen. There are numerous reasons why women seek hymen repair surgery. Some seek the procedure to satisfy religious and cultural beliefs, while others do so to provide psychological and emotional relief following sexual abuse or trauma, or to repair an injured hymen due to factors other than intercourse.
