About Dr. Nawaaz Nathoo
After leaving his hometown of Calgary, Dr. Nathoo relocated to Vancouver and graduated from the University of British Columbia (UBC) with a BSc in pharmacology. While doing so, he spent a semester abroad in Singapore working in a research lab as part of a co-op program. Dr. Nathoo then attended medical school at the University of Alberta, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine before returning to Vancouver to complete his ophthalmology residency.
Dr. Nathoo received additional training in innovative cataract surgery techniques as well as oculoplastic and aesthetic surgery. He has completed a clinical educator fellowship through UBC and is pursuing a master’s degree in health professions education at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Dr. Nathoo remains actively involved in medical education, leading the Competency-Based Medical Education program for ophthalmology residents at the UBC Medical School and overseeing the undergraduate ophthalmology curriculum in Years 1 and 2. Dr. Nathoo also serves on the Faculty Development team at the Vancouver-Fraser Medical Program.

If you want a very competent eye surgeon I highly recommend him
I recently had cataract surgery on my both eyes. I was amazed at how quickly the process went from diagnosis to surgery. I have heard many great things about Dr. Nathoo and I was really impressed with the care I was given. He is a busy doctor, but I felt he answered all my questions and I was never rushed. His office staff was very courteous and thorough.
If you want a very competent eye surgeon I highly recommend him.
