About Dr. Kimit Rai

Dr. Rai was born in Kuala Lumpur to refugee parents. He began his medical career in a government general hospital and advanced his knowledge during his mandatory military service in Malaysia. He subsequently left home to pursue his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science (MBBS) degree before receiving his medical degree from the University of British Columbia. He was then board certified in plastic surgery by British Columbia in 1975 and the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1977.

Dr. Rai developed significant skills and experience in dermal fillers and has a passion for sharing his knowledge in medical aesthetics, laser therapy, and advanced skin health. In addition to running a friendly and welcoming clinic, Dr. Rai is the proud President and Founder of Operations Rainbow Canada. This non-profit group of physicians provides free reconstructive surgeries to those with cleft palates in underdeveloped nations such as Cambodia, Lebanon, Mexico, India, and the Philippines.

Dr. Rai is an inspiring leader whose work has changed the lives of thousands of underprivileged children while also providing invaluable hands-on training for Canadian medical residents who donate their time on missions and to health care professionals in the host countries. He also mentors’ Canadian plastic surgery residents, anesthesia fellows, and pediatric residents at BC Children’s Hospital through Operation Rainbow. His extensive knowledge in his respected field has earned him the position of director at Pacific Training Institute for Facial Aesthetics & Therapeutics (PTIFA), where he teaches Level 4 and Level 5 dermal filler courses. Dr. Rai currently practices in New Westminster, The Rai Clinic, False Creek Health Care Centre, and A Smile Above in Vancouver, BC, as well as having privileges at Eagle Ridge and Royal Columbian Hospitals.
